With the concern of the COVID-19 virus the Busch Community Room is closed until further notice.
This has forced the cancellation of the May 22nd, 2020 Woodchuck ARC Business meeting.

The Board realizes that the membership still needs to be kept up to date on the Club Business matters and other       activities.

Therefore the Woodchucks will be have a "Woodchuck Net Meeting" on Friday May 22nd on our Repeater WA8Q (145.310 MHz (PL:110.9)).

We will also once again be using Zoom with the meeting.
The primary meeting location is on the Repeater - WA8Q, the ZOOM portion is a optional way to get to see the other members.

The free version of ZOOM has a 40 minute time limit so the Business portion of the meeting needs to be conducted with-in this time limit.
ZOOM does support video, so if you have a camera on your computer please wear the appropriate clothing.
All Members will be receiving an email with a link to the meeting, this makes the meeting secure to avoid "Zoom Bombing".

If your not a member you can request an invite to the meeting by contacting Chuck (K8CVM) at K8CVM(AT)mehoz.net

We will conduct regular Business and then have a Round Robin chat session with Net Control being Chuck (K8CVM).

This net will  start at the regular Club Meeting time of 7:30pm.
We will start with Check-ins, Club business and then the rest of the meeting.
Coffee and Donuts are optional and you will need to bring your own....
Maybe even another trivia question or Tell-a-Joke round.
There will be no 50/50 drawing.

Please plan on attending,

Well sort of........

Thanks to Larry N8OWS we have a redisgned logo that be manipulated to increase it's size to fit many projects.
An issue we found with the older logo was that if we wanted to make it larger for a project, such as a banner, when you increased it's size it became very fuzzy.
Larry was able to find a graphic person that was able to re-draw for us.

Thank you Larry (N8OWS)

Ohio State Parks on the Air WA8Q RECAP

The 13th Annual Ohio State Parks on the Air event took place on Saturday, September 12, 2020.

It is always the first Saturday after Labor Day and runs from 1400 UTC until 2200 hrs UTC.

This contest was  for SSB contacts only with the 10,15,20,40 and 80 meter bands used.

There are 75 State parks in Ohio but not all of these were activated.

Chuck, K8CVM, Larry, N8OWS, Ai, KE8PAI, Jim, W8MIJ and Sue, W8DXW participated in the event.

The station was set up in Garrettsville, Ohio at Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park on Rt. 282. It was operated entirely on solar power. The Hamvan was in attendance and served as the operating station.

A NVIS antenna consisting of 40 and 80 meters was used for the contest. It was placed about 16’ in the air.

Chuck also placed a set of 20 meter ham sticks on the Hamvan mast at about 25’ and he worked some good DX in the morning on 20 meters before switching over to the contest.

Luxembourg, Russia and Bosnia were the DX stations he was able to work with a good signal report from those stations.

Ai arrived in the afternoon and made her first DX contact with a station in Germany as well as stations in Texas, Alabama and the Ukraine.

The weather was near perfect though the 80 meter band began to shrink during the early  afternoon hours before rebounding.

The 40 meter band was not very active with most of the contest contacts made on the 80 meter band.

A nice contest with some good DX mixed in made Ohio State Parks on the Air a contest to try in the future.

Larry, N8OWS 73.
